Bird's Eye View...
Thanks to Microsoft's Live Service, you can type in an address and get a satellite image view of the location. You can actually zoom in pretty close. It isn't perfect (it had the library's address smack dab in the middle of US 311 about a mile north--so I moved it--the pointer, not the library), but it is a great way to look at landmarks and get directions.

As you can see from the image, it is not a current image. Looking at the state of the front yard, it appears that there is construction work being done. That would place this image around 2002.

Google Earth offers a similar service, but it does require a download. Windows Live is a web application. Google Maps has satellite imagery, but you can't zoom in as close as Windows Live.

Have fun!

Did you know that residents of North Carolina have a new website they can reference to compare hospitals statewide?

Check out! It compares the care hospitals provide to surgical patients, heart attack victims and pneumonia patients. The N.C. Hospital Association reported that North Carolina is the first state to launch such a site, which also rates hospitals across the state. They gather information from Medicare, then it compares hospital records to determine if patients improve while being treated at a particular facility. The hospitals are also rated based on their use of recognized medical practices that improve patient care, prevent infection, speed recovery and avoid complications.

Looking for the Newest DVDs?

Try this link to our catalog. It should load a list of every DVD by publication date (meaning the "newest" movies first).

We get this question a lot. I hope this helps!

Looks Pretty...Doesn't It?

You can see a few more pictures on our Flickr account. We like the snow when it doesn't turn into ice. At least not until dark.
